A few years back, I considered getting into the real estate game as a realtor, and quickly discovered I didn’t have the stomach for it. It was the same feeling I had when I was trying my hand in the home improvement market – selling windows to elderly homeowners that didn’t need them. Or when I sold my first company and thought I would try my hand at selling investment products. I got talked into coming to a meeting at a Primerica office in Stafford, VA where they tried to convince me to turn over contact info for a bunch of friends and family for me to train on – and them to churn. Good grief, why does sales have to be such a sleazy ass profession? I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be.
There are people that do not have real estate licenses (because that means they would be bound by the rules), but do have all the training and a ton of experience in sales.
People that can help you prepare your house for sale, help you figure out how to price it, how to market it, how to stage your home so it looks awesome when people come to take a look, how to negotiate, and the professionals that you MUST use so that your transaction can get processed legally. All of this has to happen anyway. Your RE agent is the one that makes contact with these people, but did you know that you will still have to do a ton of work. Your realtor doesn’t do it all. They list your house, say they do some marketing, find buyers, yada yada.
I’m in Virginia, and Virginia real estate is ALWAYS hot. We have a ton of jobs, the beach, mountains, farms, and awesome people.
